- 2 tbspn white vinegar
- 3/8 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups all purpose wheat flour
- 1/2 tbspn vanilla extract
- 1/4 tbspn salt
- Oil for deep frying
- 2 tspn baking powder
- 2 tspn baking powder
Method
1. Stir in the vinegar into your milk and let it stand for some minutes
2. In a bowl, cream in together the shortenings and sugar until smooth.
3. Add in the vanilla extract and beaten egg and combine thoroughly
4. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt and stir in the sugar mixture alternating with the vinegar mixture.
5. Roll out the dough into 1/3 inch thickness on a floured surface.
6. Cut the dough into doughnuts and let them stand for 15 minutes
7. Heat the oil for deep frying and fry your doughnuts on both sides until they are golden brown.
8. Drain excess oil and serve while hot.
The recipe calls for shortening and eggs, but the ingredient list does not mention these items
